John Kennedy Toole, wrote this when he was only fifteen – a great book for a fifteen year old kid. I felt obligated to read this after reading ‘Confederacy of Dunces’. The John Toole story is a sad one. He stuck the manuscript for Confederacy in his desk when finished – then killed himself. Ten years later his mother found it, and turned it over to a publisher. It won the Pulitzer that very first year. The poor guy will never know what he had accomplished. Sad really. What if it was the answer to what ailed him? Maybe it would have made him happy enough to want to live. Who knows. I really feel bad for his Mom. She realized his potential a decade after his tragic suicide – making her relive the pain. But heres Neon Bible, showing the potential of a teenager to become a Pulitzer Novelist. If you read one – you have to read the other.
Today marks the day of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Kate will now be known as Princess Cathrine. I’m happy for this young guy. What Prince William endured when he was younger – having to follow his Mother’s funeral procession, and all – was something that had to be an unbearable experience to live through. He was very close to his Mother Princess Diana – you can see it in video and photos when they were interacting – it was real between them. Princess Diana was a real and good Mom – who loved her kids. She would have loved and approved of Kate Middleton very, very much. Kate Middleton (Princess Cathrine) seems to be the type of person, who would honor the memory of Princess Diana – not just for Prince William – but for Princess Diana herself. Princess Diana, was a Princess that any young girl would have loved, admired, and looked upon as a role model. (Continued)
Here is eye witness video footage of Tornado in Ringgold, Ga. – captured by local resident Trent Scott of Ringgold, Ga..
Unbeknownst to me at the time I was driving, I literally headed right into this Tornado in Ringgold, Ga. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. I fortunately, arrived seconds after it hitting my spot – and not before. I was heading from the area I live in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., to a grocery store in Ringgold, Ga.. The sky from where I live can be seen for miles in every direction. The sky completely to the South where Ringgold, Ga. is, looked the most clear of all. To the North and Northeast it looked solid black and evil. The storm line had past our home about 30 min. prior. Ringgold, Ga. is about 10 miles further South than my home. So, I believed whole heartedly that with all storms having passed; and seen to be many miles away; it was all business as usual. So, I drove on down to Ringgold, Ga. rain and wind free. (Continued)
Oh, how I could have used the humorous comfort when Cameron was little. He was like most little tykes, and would do anything not to go to sleep – glasses of water; bathroom trips; shadows; stuffed animals; covers not straight; etc., etc.. This book does have an expletive title; but it really promises to be funny for parents only – not for the kids, of course. It would make a great gag gift for those new parents we all know. It hasn’t been published just yet; but the original reviewers of advanced copies said it was funny.
I’m checking out the iOS WordPress app, and all posting functionality. So, I’m going upload a photo of my coffee. Why not…..?
So, here it is – my afternoon bucket of Joe. Guaranteed caffeine buzz, followed by a sugar crash!
But hey, I’ve been going at it since 5:30am.
One of the few works in this genre, considered to be Literature. It won the prestigious Hugo Award the year it first released. It’s a very good read for someone new to Sci-Fi/Fantasy to get started. It’s very well written, and comfortable to read; and will draw you into it. It flows very well along. I enjoyed having to look up the occasional word in a dictionary – probably why they call it literature.
The story itself is one of the first great post-nuclear apocalyptic story-lines – if not the first. Everything to come after, has been some form of twist on parts of novels like this one. But, this isn’t somekind of Mad Max type story; it’s much more practical and believable. I really enjoyed this book, and intend to read the related books that came after – not sequels, just relative.
The best ever culinary experience a restaurateur can gain, is working for Chef Guenter Seeger. It actually improved me, both personally and professionally, and has remained with me all these years since. So, here’s a little story from one Chef, about sharing dinner with a his friend and colleague. To Share, or Not To Share
